2.1 Information you provide to us


2.1.1 Names and email addresses

Whenever you download a digital product (eg eBook, cheat sheet, infographic, book sample etc), we will ask for your name and email address so that we can send you the resource.

When you download the product, you will have a separate option to subscribe to the mailing list by checking a consent box.

Once you do so, we will collect your name and email address. This is to enable you to receive updates about the latest blog  post, offers of any resources, newsletters and occasional marketing messages. You will never be sent any spam.

Visitors have the option to subscribe to the mailing list separately for the above-described purposes by clicking here and filling in the form.

Visitors can unsubscribe at any time by following the link provided at the bottom of the emails, or by requesting to be removed by emailing mail@cottontailcreekrabbitry.com


2.1.2 Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Every time you comment, you have the option to check a consent box saying that you agree to having your data stored and handled by this website.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. 

If you have a Word Press account and choose to comment via that, your name will show a link to your website. Your email address will not be displayed for public viewing. 


2.1.3 Contact forms

Whenever visitors use the contact forms, your name and email address are logged.

In this situation, your details are not automatically added to the mailing list but are simply collected in order for us to have a means by which to contact you and respond to your query.

Each time you use the contact form, you have the option to check a consent box saying that you agree to having your data stored and handled by this website.

 

2.2 Information automatically collected about you


2.2.1 Log Files

Like many other websites, Cottontail Creek Rabbitry makes use of log files. These files merely log visitors to the site – usually a standard procedure for hosting companies and a part of hosting services’s analytics. The information inside the log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. This information is used to analyse trends, administer the site, track user’s movement around the site, and for reasons of fraud protection. It also provides us with information as to how many visitors our website has had, how long a visitor stayed on the site and the pages they viewed. 

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

We may also release information when it’s release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property or safety. 


4. HOW WE PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL DATA

Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. At the present time, we do not ask for credit card information. In the event that this information is required in order to complete a transaction, we will employ vulnerability scanning and/or scanning to PCI standards.

While we take precautions and invest in security for any stored user data, if our user data is ever compromised, we promise to send an email to inform users within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.


5. HOW LONG WE RETAIN YOUR DATA

If you give consent for us to have your name and email address, these are retained indefinitely until you unsubscribe or request for this data to be deleted.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

At present, there is no registration required in order to use the website. However, this may change in future if a store front is implemented on the site.
